The former Brain’s pub re-opened in March 2017 as a free house under new ownership and after a major refurbishment. There’s an excellent good range of real/craft ales and home-cooked food, with the menu ranging from burgers to steaks/ribs/curries and vegetarian options. Cardiff CAMRA Pub of the Year 2018 and runner-up in 2019 (to its sister pub, The Lansdowne in Canton) indicates they take their ales seriously – the range includes a Crafty Devil house beer, Dr Grangelove, and other micro Welsh breweries feature regularly. The pub also does board games, darts and skittles. Dog-friendly; family-friendly. Quiz nights on Wednesdays (8pm) are busy, there are also monthly comedy nights (last Thursdays of the month) . Tŷ Tafarn annibynnol yw’r Grange, sy’n gwerthu cwrw go iawn a chwrw crefft, seidr amrywiol, gwin da a bwyd ffres, cartref bob diwrnod o’r wythnos. Mae gennym fwrdd darts, sgitls a gardd gwrw ac rydym yn dangos pob gêm rygbi Cymru ar sgriniau taflunydd mawr.

New pub-restaurant – now part of Greene King’s Farmhouse Inn chain – which opened in December 2013 and has already proved popular, which means you sometimes have to wait. A big place, divided into two dining areas with two entrances – one for families and one aimed at couples/adults, which is a nice touch. There are generous portions from a menu ranging from chicken, pasta, to steaks and although it can be very busy, the staff were friendly and attentive. There is a carvery service option for selected meals for those who don’t want to wait. The restaurant also has a speciality for gateaux and desserts, with a “cake-away” option. Usually two real ales including a Greene King beer served and a decent wine selection. Mainly a place to eat though. NB: There’s a nice nod to local history on the walls although there was never a farm here, or a cedar tree in anyone’s memory.
